Photos and videos of my cats Donkey and Buu which arrived in this world in late 2001 and left it in 2017. Donkey was named after Shrek's companion given his portly appearance as a kitten that melted into a lean feline later on. Buu was named after Majin Buu from Dragonball Z ... and name which made sense if you're thinking of the happy, jumping, plump Majin Buu.

For several years I worked in JavaScript on the server-side (IIS / JScript) before it became the force that it is now. I went through a few different projects to try to legitimize it to my fellow developers and these came under different names ... JivinScript, SavvyScript, ObremScript, ScriptSubstratum, and ObremSDK (the last of which I tried to generalize for more than JavaScript).

I created Neil's C++ Stuff  in 1998 to help my fellow classmates with C++ and it turned out to be a bit of a hit on the internet. I let that go to my head and for the next couple of decades I made all sorts of plans around it and yet nothing ever coalesced. Even as recent as last year I intended to write some sort of eBook but now I realize I'm never going to do that and I may never write C++ professionally again anyway. So here is a copy of the website, the ill-fated book from 2002, and a...

Swordman was a CGA game I wrote in Q-Basic in the mid 1990s. It is rather sensitive to the machine speed it's running on because there's no timer logic. In 2006 I set about re-creating it in HTML and didn't get very far but there's some interesting JavaScript logic there.

"FlamingWeenie" is an anthropomorphic hotdog with his head on fire and my gaming alter-ego turned cartoon character. Those of us in the office where I worked at the time tried our hands at various times drawing this character. I created a web page for it, a domain at one time, etc. etc. I even had shirts embroidered with the poor guy. It got a little out of control ...

These are things I wrote in High School for doing some Rifts (paper RPG) sessions. At one point I had this idea to create a companion book called Olympus Rivia  that was none-too-loosely based on my love of David Eddings books. This wouldn't have been commercial but still it's a bit irritating to my adult self to see my younger self simply copying another artist even if it was for the purpose of bringing it into a different form.

This is a book I wrote, or rather compiled, in High School. It was pieced together from various other things I'd penned but none of them particularly long or elegant and really, there's a strong theme of teenage angst. Also, I wrote this in WordPerfect 3.x for DOS which is why the files are WPD which you can open in OpenOffice or LibreOffice but won't render quite right.

This is a collection of poetry I wrote starting from 1992, when I was in 8th grade. I was inspired by Mrs. Parriott and much of this was typed on an old IBM PC in WordPerfect for DOS (hence the WPD files). When I first began at that young age I practiced a great deal which is evident by the randomness of my subjects.

This is a collection of story fragments from my middle school days circa 1990 revolving around a main character Clash (later "Calen") and his friends Basher (Khrolem), Suiky the Ninja, Thyron the Archer, and Crissel the Wizard. There are other characters too, a WHOLE LOT of other characters in fact, but I never got cohesive enough to put a novel together with them. Rather than try to organize this, I've simply scanned and uploaded all the notes I could find.

The description below is about the original video file which was a FLV. The version you are seeing here was a YouTube conversion of it with digital stabilization. Some of the detail has been lost due to this but the result is much more watchable. Made with footage from a Canon FS100 camcorder (yes, I carried it the whole way) using Adobe Premiere CS4 on my ThinkPad T400 running Windows 7 (Build 7100). Concatenating all the clips would have resulted in a boring, shaky, and unwatchable mess so I...

This time-lapse was created with a modest Logitech webcam, a simple Windows program which took a photo every 5 minutes if it detected movement, a PHP script to generate the frames, and FFMPEG to assemble everything together. I put this together in 2010 but the footage is from a project in 2009. The two music tracks are by Judson Cowan (http://tettix.net/) and The Gothsicles (http://www.thegothsicles.com/)
